West Chicago offers an abundance of recreational activities for the whole family. The Park District has nine parks of over 228 acres and includes the Turtle Splash Family Aquatic Center. For golf enthusiasts, Prairie Landing is an 18-hole course set within rolling meadows and prairies and St. Andrews Country Club is a 36-hole course offering wooded scenic views. In addition, the Illinois Prairie Paths and the Great Western Trail run through West Chicago. Both offer scenic views of the West Chicago Prairie, a 350-acre preserve located within the heart of the city, as well as the substantial land holdings of the DuPage County Forest Preserve. The paths are frequently used for walking, biking, horse back riding and running.
West Chicago offers commuters easy access to main transportation hubs. Train stations offer commuters easy access to downtown Chicago. I-88 (East-West toll-way) can be easily accessed from either Winfield Road or Route 59 to the south, while I-90 is north on Route 59, and also I-355 (North-South toll-way) is east on North Avenue.
